Slusser Brothers Major Underwriter for MDA Black and Blue Ball
Proceeds raised at event benefit children and adults affected by neuromuscular diseases
HAZLETON, Pa. (April 11, 2005) -
Slusser Brothers has announced that it will be a major underwriter once again for one of the region’s biggest events of the season - the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s (MDA) Black and Blue Ball.
Proceeds raised at the event help local families by funding the purchase of wheelchairs and braces, clinic visits, support groups, MDA summer camps for children, and research. “The Black and Blue Ball has really blossomed into one of the premier events in northeast Pennsylvania,” said Randy Lake, President, Mid-Atlantic Group, which includes Slusser Brothers along with Pennsy Supply and Tilcon-Delaware. “We felt that it was a very good fit with Slusser Brothers’ community outreach efforts.”
The fifth Annual Black and Blue Ball will be held on April 15, 2005, at the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel in Scranton, Pa. At the ball, named for its unique dress code, guests attend in everything from tuxedos and ball gowns to blue jeans and leather. Last year’s event raised more than $80,000 for MDA programs, assistance and research. This year, organizers hope to double that mark.
